Maelu
Founder and designer of Maelu, Meghna Dave, is a second generation Indian American celebrating and embracing her family's roots. Her traditionally inspired, bohemian collections are designed in her Portland studio and handmade in India using traditional techniques such as block printing, hand weaving and screen printing. Garments are made using natural fibers such as modal, linen, and organic cotton, and are colored with rich, vegetal dyes that are easier on the environment and healthier for the wearer. Beyond a focus on sustainable materials, Maelu directly supports the artisans in India that block-print the beautiful fabric and also donates a portion of all profits directly to www.globalfundforwomen.org, a non-profit foundation supporting the advancement of women's human rights around the world.
